Learn all about the uses of marine radios, choice of frequencies, operation, phonetic alphabet, procedural words and phrases, as well as Digital Selective Calling and the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (DSC/GMDSS).
All mariners, including recreational boaters, will want to take advantage of the many features and capabilities of this innovative form "automatic" radio. Secure your lifeline. Be sure that you and your family take the Maritime Radio Course. This complete package will prepare you for the Restricted Operator Certificate (Maritime) with DSC Endorsement exam which is included as part of this course.

How is the Course Delivered?
The Maritime Radio Restricted Operator Certificate (Maritime) is available through a variety of delivery formats including:
- Self-study option
- 1-day format (Virtual via Zoom)
- 1-day format (In Person)
Virtual classes begin at 9:00 am Pacific Time and take approximately 4.5 hours to complete. Following the virtual class you will need to schedule an online exam with a CanBoat Nanaimo examiner. This exam will take up to 2 hours to complete.
In Person classes begin at 8:30 am Pacific Time and take approximately 8 hours including breaks and exam time.
